OK, *now* I'm back

Finally back from my Sydney trip—was at the eResearch Australasia conference for a week, and stuck around the most beautiful city in the world for the weekend. That kind of beauty, one should only consume in moderation, lest one start to take it for granted.

And end up a Sydneysider.

So I'm finally going to get back to the natural order of things; and I may even get back to blogging. As we say in Cretan dialect, now, να βρω το σειρά μου "I'll find my series". Where "series" is another word for "order", and Cretan switches the gender of the noun to make that differentiation clear.

I've found no hits for that expression online, which shows either that there isn't as much blogging in Cretan dialect as there is in Cypriot—or that the expression is only used in my mother's village.

Still not posting

I've been pretty busy since leaving New Orleans, so I'm continuing not to be active here. Distractions have included, in order:

I will resume normal transmission once I've cleared my deck, but it doesn't look like happening before next week; I'm staying in Sydney for R&R over the next weekend too...

Change of e-mail adress

A special kind of blindness made me ignore the impending death of the optushome.com.au domain over the past five years. The plug has finally been pulled on it (and I've just found out about it); those of you who have been mailing me @ optushome.com.au, please change immediately to optusnet.com.au

[EDIT: it's been a stressful time. that's optusnet.com.au]

Offline in Bendigo

Folks, some excellent comments to my recent posting deluge, both here and in The Other Place. Won't be able to get to them immediately though, as I'm taking off for the weekend for some R & R (well... just the Rest best anyway). I'm going to be offline for three days (if I can last that long) in Bendigo. But the laptop is coming with, so there'll be more postings put in the pipeline for Sunday night.

Resuming broadcast

Mpf. I'm not particularly good at this, am I. At any rate, I'm resuming broadcast, not least because I'm travelling next week to the Low Countries, and blogging my travels is a Good and Virtuous Thing to do.

The trip shall involve

  • Amsterdam --- and I've already purchased the DK technicolor travel guide;
  • Brussels --- which gives me renewed opportunities to make ill-informed generalisations about Belgian community politics;
  • Nijmegen on the Dutch-German border.

Back to opuculuk

So I stumble back into the blogosphere, flick aside the cobwebs, pick up the uncollected mail, and take a deep breath.

Not that I'm sure I will be blindingly good about this, but my European trip is making blogging a necessity, both for professional and personal record-keeping of where I am how.

I'll be work-blogging at http://interopporesearch.blogspot.com/ , and non-work–blogging here.
